Kathy Boyd is the founder and director of the Faux Retreat.  Kathy came up with the concept after her own experiences attending classes in various locations and recognizing a need for something unique and different, but still at an affordable price. "I basically combined the three things I love the most.  Decorative painting, spas and travel, all at an all inclusive price."  "There is so much more to be gained by artists who come together in a beautiful setting, sharing their talent and experiences and of course living together for 5 days you feel like you have acquired a new family." 

Kathy launched her own full time decorative painting firm, KB Designs, in 1998 which services both the residential and commercial industries. Kathy is a member of several local foundations and is the creator of the Desperate Interiors event which takes place in Duluth, MN  Kathy has served as a marketing committee member for IDAL and trains yearly with some of the most recognized masters in the business.

Ms. Boyd also created the online message forum, Talk Faux International, when she realized the need to bring decorative artisans together in a non-competitive way for networking and fellowship. It has since become one of the world’s largest and most popular forums for professional decorative artists. She followed the success of Talk Faux with the creation of House of Faux, the largest resource site specifically for decorative artists and muralists. Once those two online sites had been established, Ms. Boyd created Art Fusion, the world’s only social networking site specifically for decorative painting artisans which also boasts a huge european following and flair. They are unilaterally among three of the most important networking and knowledge sites available online for the faux finishing industry.

Through her business CyberMuse, Kathy offers services including on-site and off-site marketing, class and instructor development, class and product promotion, website and blog building and business services.  In addition, Kathy also offers a class at the Faux Retreat entitled, Getting and Maintaining a Web Presence.
