Application for Spring Faux Retreat Monitor May 1 – May 5, 2010

Faux Retreats are designed to offer a unique opportunity to decorative artists to come together for an extended time to live and learn together in a beautiful setting.

Retreats are typically five days and held in the spring and fall in Spooner, Wisconsin. Each features two instructors sharing the week and retreats are all-inclusive (save travel fare). Additional amenities that are included in some of the retreats are guest speakers, custom canvas creations and Samurai Faux Challenges, where students are given the same products and come up with a finish within the time limit. Last but not least are the spa treatments: massages, yoga, reiki, Zumba dancing and other spa treatments are offered at the included retreat price or if more are desired, at an additional charge.

A Faux Retreat Monitor is a not for monetary position awarded to an artist who has been chosen by a group of instructors and others in the decorative finishing community. By applying to be a monitor you agree to the following terms outlined in the application.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

 

 

Date: May 1 – May 5, 2010 Monitors should arrive by 8am the morning of May 1, but may arrive as early as April 30th.

Duties: Duties may contain all or part of the following.

Assist instructors with their class, which may entail getting supplies, passing out materials, washing out tools and buckets and cleaning.

Cleaning of class room area for next days class.

Running errands between class area and main house.

Prep and clean up for meals.

Taking out garbage.

Break down of class area at end of retreat.

The retreat monitor is not compensated in monetary payment, but will receive the following; Lodging, food, Class notes and techniques, fellowship with other students and bonus mini classes. You are also welcome to participate in any extras that may be scheduled such as yoga, dance and night out on your own.
