Kathy launched her own full time decorative painting firm, KB Designs, in 1998 which services both the residential and commercial industries. She continues to train yearly with some of the most recognized masters in the business and is busy with locations in both Minneapolis and Duluth.
Ms. Boyd also created the online message forum, Talk Faux International, when she realized the need to bring decorative artisans together in a non-competitive way for networking and fellowship. It has since become one of the world’s largest and most popular forums for professional decorative artists. She followed the success of Talk Faux with the creation of House of Faux, the largest resource site specifically for decorative artists and muralists. Once those two online sites had been established, Ms. Boyd created Art Fusion, the world’s only social networking site for decorative painting artisans which also boasts a huge european following and flair. They are unilaterally among three of the most important networking and knowledge sites available online for the faux finishing industry.
In 2009 after numerous requests for assistance in marketing, website promotion and internet sales and marketing, Kathy started CyberMuse. CyberMuse services include on-site and off-site marketing and business services most specifically to the world wide web. In addition, Kathy is offering an evening class at the Faux Retreat entitled, Getting and Maintaining a Web Presence.
In addition to her firm, Ms. Boyd now manages Faux Retreat. These week long workshops typically feature 2 instructors and follow the European tradition where students lived together sharing the expertise of an artist while experiencing a connection and unique form of guidance. She is also turning her efforts to the development of the International Decorative Arts Awards, set to debut in 2010. She also has a calendar and book series about decorative artisans in the works.
Kathy is also on the marketing committee for IDAL and along with Regina Garay and Sass Lassley, have an online radio network Creative Frequency.
